Absentee Ballots

By Mail:

Any qualified voter may request an absentee ballot by mail from the Elections Office, 161 Poplar St., Ste 102, Mocksville

(Lower level of the Brock Performing Arts Center, 622 N. Main St.)  A member of their immediate family, or verifiable legal guardian may also make a request on the qualified voters behalf.  Immediate family includes: spouse, child, stepchild, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, parent, stepparent, father-in-law, mother-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, brother, sister.

Ballots by mail become available 50 days prior to an election and are available through 5:00 p.m. on the Tuesday before the Election Day.  To be eligible for counting, absentee ballots must be returned to the Elections Office no later than 5:00 p.m. the day before the election.

All absentee ballot container return envelopes must be signed by the voter, and by two witnesses at least 18 years of age with their complete mailing address.

During the period commencing on the third Tuesday before an election the county board of elections shall hold one or more public meetings each Tuesday at 4:45 p.m. for the purpose of action on the absentee applications requesting absentee ballots.

"One-Stop"

Any qualified voter may vote in the Elections Office,161 Poplar St., Ste 102, Mocksville (Lower level of the Brock Performing Arts Center, 622 N. Main St.) between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. beginning on the 13th day prior to an election, Monday – Friday, and closing at 1:00 p.m. on the Saturday prior to the Tuesday of the election.

One-stop ballots are cast on the DRE iVOTRONIC machines

Note:  Absentee voting is available for all elections, except Fire Districts.
