Communicable Disease Investigation
Investigation of causes and sources of communicable diseases in Davie County. Enforcement of appropriate treatment and control measures to prevent the spread of identified diseases such as salmonella or hepatitis.
General Clinic
The following screening / testing services are offered by appointment to persons of any age: blood pressure, blood sugar, pregnancy testing, allergy injections, vision, hearing, blood lead screening, sickle cell, AIDS antibody, hemoglobin or hematocrit, breast mammogram referral. Fees for services are determined using a sliding fee scale based on income and family size.
Health Education
Health education services are component of every program offered by the Health Department. Educational efforts are provided to clients, schools, and community groups in the areas of disease prevention, healthy lifestyle promotion, and environmental health compliance.
Immunizations
Immunization for measles, mumps, rubella, diptheria, tetanus, chickenpox, Hepititis B, and haemophilus influenza B are provided free to preschool and school-age-children in accordance with North Carolina law. Adults may also receive immunizations upon request. Immunizations are given by appointment.
Laboratory Services
Provides diagnostic laboratory support for the health department clinical programs. Some patient and environmental health specimens are collected and/or forwarded to the North Carolina State Laboratory or throughcontracted private laboratories for processing.
Vital Records and Administrative Services
The Davie County Health Department is a provider of statistical health data for Davie County. Information is available on the number of county births and deaths, leading causes of death, and the incidence of communicable disease. This data assists local and state health personnel in preparation for promotion and disease prevention programs.
