WIC is a nutrition education and supplemental food program for pregnant, breast-feeding and postpartum women (up to 6 months after birth), infants, and children (up to age 5). To qualify for WIC services, an individual has to be financially, medically, and/or nutritionally eligible. Through an individually tailored food package, the program provides infants with formula, juices, and cereal. Women and children are provided milk, cheese, eggs, juices, dried beans, peanut butter, and cereal.
Eligibility standards for the WIC Program are the same for everyone regardless of race, color, national origin, political beliefs, sex, age, or handicap.
